A new standard from OSHA is in effect regarding occupational exposure to respirable crystalline silica. The standard is designed to reduce lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in America’s workers by limiting their exposure to crystalline silica particles. Affecting the construction, general and maritime industries, the new standard will require employers to take several actions.
