The revised Japanese Industrial standards JIS L 0001: 2024 Textiles – Care Labelling Code Using Symbols was published on August 20, 2024, replacing the 2014 version. This updated version is issued to align with the care symbols and some of the care treatments stated in the current ISO care labelling standard ISO 3758: 2023.

Japan - Approved to Expand the Restriction on PFOA, its isomer or its salts and PFOA-related compounds
On 10 Jul 2024, the Ministries of Japan has published Cabinet Order no. 244 of 2024 to expand the restriction on perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts to PFOA, its isomer or its salts and PFOA-related compounds under the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of their Manufacturer etc.

Amendment of Stuffed Toy Law in Pennsylvania
On August 27, 2024, House Bill 1333 will come into effect, allowing the use of recycled materials in all stuffed toys produced and sold in the state. This amendment to the 1961 ‘Stuffed Toy Manufacturing Act’ acknowledges the evolution of manufacturing processes and shifting consumer preferences towards sustainable products.

Utah’s Online Sales Requirements R70-101-13
The State of Utah has published a draft of its new rule change governing the online sale of stuffed articles, open for public comment until August 14, 2024. If unchanged, the rules will take effect on August 21, 2024, with enforcement beginning April 1, 2025.

The Standardization Administration of China has announced that GB 30585-2024 “Safety technical specifications for infants’ and children’s footwear” will come into effect on June 1, 2025. This standard applies to footwear products made from various materials, intended for children and infants aged 14 years or below.

The Standardization Administration of China has announced that GB 25038-2024 “General safety requirements for footwear” will come into effect on June 1, 2025. The standard is applicable to footwear products made of various materials. It does not apply to protective shoes (boots), footwear for children aged 14 years or below.
