Intertek understands the complexity of the regulatory market changes brought about by Britain’s exit from the EU, as well as the impact on importers and exporters to the UK and European markets in the cosmetics, home and personal care industry.
The United Kingdom (UK) left the European Union (EU) single market and customs union on 31 December 2020, at which point EU law ceased to apply in the UK. On 03 July 2020, the UK government released the final version of the Statutory Instrument (SI) Product Safety and Metrology EU Exit Regulations, including the UK Cosmetic Regulation within Schedule 34. The UK Cosmetic Regulation closely replicates EC Regulation 1223/2009, however, manufacturers, importers, and companies in Europe and elsewhere wishing to place cosmetic products on the UK market must now comply with new and/or additional requirements.
Our team of experts will continue to closely monitor updates in this area. Intertek has taken the necessary steps to ensure that customers have continuity in the services delivered.
