Jesse Rentz, Regulatory Toxicology Associate II - Chemicals Group
Jesse Rentz joined the Chemicals Group at Intertek as a regulatory associate and toxicologist in July 2023 with over 4 years of laboratory experience working in a variety of laboratory environments. In the Chemicals Group, Mr. Rentz assists in reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting toxicological data for chemical registrations in Canada under the New Substances Notification (NSN) and in the European Union under Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) programs. He is experienced in conducting literature searches, identifying relevant toxicological data, and summarizing scientific research to aid in addressing identified gaps in the knowledge base.
Mr. Rentz is passionate about the field of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for the reduction, refinement, and replacement of animal testing methods for the purpose of chemical safety evaluations. In recognition of the evolving regulatory landscape, Mr. Rentz is developing his abilities in performing computational modelling and preparing robust scientific read-across justifications.
Mr. Rentz completed his graduate studies in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department at the University of Toronto where he researched the effects of administration of a bone derived peptide on behaviour and cognition in a high-fat diet model of Type 2 Diabetes in mice. Conducting this research furthered his understanding of toxicological principles, provided valuable insight into interpreting in vivo studies and strengthened his critical thinking capabilities. Mr. Rentz graduated from the University of Guelph with a B.Sc. in Biomedical Toxicology.
