Katarina Komesarovic, B.Sc., Regulatory Associate II
Katarina Komesarovic joined Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy’s Chemicals Group in 2018 as a Regulatory Associate II. Her primary focus is strategic partnerships providing full regulatory support in an outsourcing capacity. She provides regulatory support with respect to dangerous goods transportation classification and compliance as well as Global Harmonized System (GHS) and Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR) compliance.
With her background in Environmental Sciences, Ms. Komesarovic has applied ecotoxicology for hazard communication to both the transport of dangerous goods and GHS hazard communication. Her primary responsibilities include the preparation of safety data sheets (SDS) and labels for Canada, the US and the EU as well as transportation consulting services for Air, Marine and North American Road & Rail. She has a firm grasp and working knowledge of many of the hazard communication and transportation regulations in Canada and the US including OSHA’s Hazardous Communication System (29 CFR 1910.1200), the Canadian Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR WHMIS 2015), the US and Canadian road and rail transportation regulations (49 CFR; DOT, TDG), the US Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), and the Canadian Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations (CCCR).
Prior to joining Intertek, Ms. Komesarovic gained 5 years of experience in the regulatory industry specializing in workplace and chemical safety. She generated and maintained SDSs for in-process and finished goods products as well as processing customer requests. Ms. Komesarovic also performed consumer product label and classification reviews, reviewed product formulations, updated raw material classifications by researching various global data sources and systems, and confirmed additional regulatory compliance of regulations.
Ms. Komesarovic has been a member of many joint health and safety committees where she collaborated with her colleagues to ensure that all legislative conditions were met, and the functionality and safety of the workplace were maintained. She recently became a member of the Society for Chemical Hazard Communication (SCHC) and intends to continuously partake in professional development courses to increase her expertise and consulting services.
