Ellen Thornton, Sr. Associate III, Toxicology & Regulatory Affairs, Food & Nutrition

She is currently working on writing EU Novel Food, food enzyme and food additive dossiers, where she assesses and interprets data from clients on the identity and toxicity of their Novel Food, in addition to including appropriate studies from literature searches. Shealso contributes to regulatory assessments for various EU projects and assists in the intakes team when necessary.

She has earlier worked as a scientific regulatory advisor, where she has assisted clients in the chemicals industry with registering, evaluating and assessing toxicological data on the chemicals they marketed in the EU. This involved researching the more recent human and environmental toxicological studies(and/or QSARs) to report to ECHA via IUCLID. In addition, the clients were consortiums consisting of large chemical companies who produced the same chemicals, hence other parts of her job involved management of consortia and attending meetings.
