Spencer West, B.SC., Sr. Associate III, Toxicology & Regulatory Affairs; Consumer Assurance, Food & Nutrition

Spencer West is an Associate III within the Food & Nutrition Group at Intertek Health Sciences Inc. Seth offers scientific support on food sciences and consumer product-related projects. He is heavily involved in managing the TRA/LHAMA workload within IHSI. 

He is involved in the project management and preparation of submissions and notifications for review by global regulatory agencies and organizations including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Health Canada, the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA), and the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) including Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), New Dietary Ingredient (NDI), Novel Food, Product License Application notifications and consumer product safety assessments (toxicological risk assessments).

Spencer is responsible for the critical evaluation and interpretation of scientific literature on toxicology, carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, and metabolism of ingredients, impurities, or degradants present in food and consumer products. He also monitors current research and regulatory issues to address safety/regulatory concerns. Spencer often acts as the client liaison regarding ongoing and potential projects. Spencer holds a B.Sc. in Toxicology from the University of Guelph.
