U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Recall Analysis
A total of 65 consumer product recall notices were issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from Apr 1 to Jun 30, 2022. Notably, 23 recalls from the CPSC were done jointly with Health Canada.
Sports & Recreation accounted for 7 recall notices, and all-terrain vehicles accounted for 4 recalls. Appliances accounted for 6 notices, spanning various hazard categories such as choking, poisoning, impact injury, fire, and/or burn.
Toys accounted for 7 recall notices for ingestion and/or choking and chemical exposure. Furniture accounted for 4 recall notices issued for various hazards such as chemical exposure and injury, crash, or fall. There were 9 notices for children’s sleepwear for fire and/or burn.

Storage Racks: One of the U-shaped buckles on the supporting cables can fail, posing an impact injury hazard to the user or bystander if the rack falls. |
Storage Racks: The hex bolts in the overhead garage storage racks can be defective, causing the rack to collapse from the ceiling, posing an impact injury hazard. |

Health Canada Recalls Analysis
Health Canada reported a total of 49 consumer product recall notices issued from Apr 1 to Jun 30, 2022.
An analysis of the product categories shows 3 recalls in the category of Sports & Recreation for various hazards, such as hypothermia, severe bodily harm, and labeling/child-resistant packaging. The category of Children’s Sleepwear shows 4 recalls notices, all pertaining to fire or burn hazard. Children’s Clothing also had 2 notices, all of which were related to choking hazards. Toys had 1 recall notice for choking hazard. 11 notices were served for the category of Appliances related to electric shock, ingestion, fall and/or injury, poisoning, fire, and/or burn.
Based on hazard categorization, there were 21 recall notices for fire or burn, 9 recall notices each for fall and/or injury, and 5 recall notices for choking. There were 2 notices for strangulation.
