SASO recently announced the enforcement of the standard SASO 2870/2015 - “Energy efficiency, functionality and labeling requirements for lighting products”
This is concerned with indirect and direct general light sources having a luminous flux above 60 lumens and below 12 000 lumens of the following technologies (Incandescent lamps, Compact fluorescent lamps with integrated ballast (CFLi), Halogen lamps, Light-emitting diode (LED) lamps (Incandescent retrofit types) and Light-emitting diode (LED) lamps (Halogen retrofit types).
The requirements of the Standard will be enforced from 1st May 2016.
Manufacturers/Exporters are required to carry out Energy Efficiency licensing with SASO before the enforcement date to avoid facing any unnecessary delay.
