We offer Comprehensive Testing Solutions for your HVAC/R equipment to AHRI Standards
Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI)
The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is a trade association representing manufacturers of HVACR equipment and components. AHRI plays a significant role in the HVACR industry by focusing on the following:
- Certification Programs: AHRI offers certification programs that test and verify the performance of HVACR products to ensure they meet specific standards. These certifications are widely recognized in the industry and help build consumer confidence in the reliability and efficiency of the equipment.
- Standards Development: AHRI develops and maintains industry standards that define performance, safety, and efficiency metrics for HVACR equipment. These standards are often used by manufacturers, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
- Advocacy: The organization advocates for policies and regulations that promote energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and innovation in HVACR technologies. AHRI represents the industry's interests to governments and regulatory bodies.
- Research and Education: AHRI funds research initiatives and provides educational resources to advance HVACR technologies and practices. This includes studies on energy efficiency, refrigerants, and environmental impact.
- Industry Representation: The institute acts as a unifying voice for manufacturers in the HVACR sector, fostering collaboration and addressing shared challenges, such as supply chain issues, regulatory compliance, and workforce development.
Intertek Partnering with the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI)
Intertek has been testing HVAC/R equipment for over six decades and has partnered with AHRI for over 50 years. Our engineers verify that HVAC/R equipment used in North America and abroad meets the performance claims of manufacturers when measured by standards established by AHRI.
AHRI maintains and publishes over 80 standards, mainly related to equipment performance, energy efficiency, and refrigerants; with many AHRI standards accepted as ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standards. AHRI’s rating standards, when teamed with ASHRAE’s methods of tests, provide a method to test and rate heating, air-conditioning, ventilation, commercial refrigeration, water heating, boiler and radiant panel equipment.
