Power Grid Requirements
There are electrical, performance and environmental requirements for telecom and monitoring equipment that is now being installed at the edge of the power grid. While this equipment is not involved in the transmission of power across the grid, your equipment will still need to continue to operate reliably in these harsh environments and comply with applicable requirements. Depending on how and where your product is installed along the grid, you may need to meet the requirements of IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 or other electrical and environmental requirements. These standards detail environmental and performance testing requirements for communications in electric power substations and architecture for electric power systems.
At Intertek, we keep our customers updated on the latest standards, communication protocols and test requirements for your product to help you navigate an ever-changing landscape.
