Intertek Expands Technical Inspection Offering in Southern Africa with Acquisition of AVCape

Intertek, the leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has acquired Atlantic Verification Cape Ltd ("AVCape"), a provider of statutory and non-statutory technical inspection services to industries including refrigeration, food production, power generation, petrochemical and oil and gas.

Established in 2002, AVCape's technical services include in-service inspection, design verification, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) certification, welding engineering and metallurgy. As a government Approved Inspection Authority (AIA), AVCape specializes in the inspection and certification of vessels under pressure such as boilers, heat exchangers, process pressure vessels, refrigeration vessels, and air receivers during manufacture and operation. The company also supports customers through in-house design and verification services that help ensure the pressure vessels meet industry regulations such as ASME VIII Div 1 and PD 5500. These regulations are important to help companies maintain pressure vessel safety by reducing or eliminating the risk of leakage, rupture, or explosion.
