Intertek Launches Commercial Laundering Testing Services for Textiles in the U.S.

Chicago – Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, announces the launch of commercial laundering testing services for textiles. These services, which simulate real-world commercial laundering conditions to determine the best care for repeatedly heavily laundered textiles, are offered out of the U.S. textiles lab and provide suppliers and manufacturers of commercial textiles—such as uniforms, linens and towels—an option to ensure that repeated laundering at higher temperatures won’t diminish the items' stability and appearance.
With investment in new state-of-the-art equipment at the Intertek textile testing laboratory in Arlington Heights, Illinois these new services can now be offered to customers. The set up allows experts in the lab to simulate real-world commercial washing and drying conditions with water temperature going up to 200°F to test textiles for appearance changes and other durability properties. The services can closely match the test procedure found in the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists technical manual (AATCC 96) Dimensional Changes in Commercial Laundering Standard or be tailored to customers’ specific requirements. A range of laundering test conditions from severe to mild is provided to allow simulation of the various types of commercial launderings available.
