Intertek High-Performance Mark program helps retailers, brands and manufacturers demonstrate the functional properties of Textile, Footwear, Furniture, Kitchenware, Pet Products and Eyewear by verifying performance attributes through testing and also enabling you to communicate the benefits to your customers through labeling that bears the High-Performance Mark.
Consumers today are looking for the consumer products that they use every day to have functional properties that make their lives easier. For example, pet owners may look for upholstered furniture that can resist scratches from cats or dogs, or pet toys that can withstand repetitive biting and remain functional. There are many products in the market that claim to have these functions, however, there are limited mandatory regulations to control the quality of the performance features, and consumers may end up purchasing products that do not perform as advertised. It also poses challenges for retailers, brands, and manufacturers when making manufacturing and sourcing decisions.
The Intertek High-Performance Mark program
That’s why Intertek developed the High-Performance Mark program to help you ensure the claims you make about your products’ high-performance features are true and accurate, thus your products can stand out among competing products in a crowded market. With the High-Performance Mark you can differentiate the functional performance of your consumer products using the associated mark to help communicate features and benefits to your end-consumers.
How does the program work?
The program currently offers a wide range of performance claims for verification through product testing at our High-Performance Centres of Excellence across the world, covering Textile, Footwear, Furniture, Kitchenware, Pet Products and Eyewear.
You will be required to fill out a High-Performance Mark application form to provide details and submit representative samples of your products to our High-Performance Centres of Excellence for our teams to carry out a series of testing to evaluate their performance against our specified High-Performance standards (Read the details of the Intertek standard).
Upon successful completion of the testing process, you will be issued the following materials that you can use to demonstrate that your products meet the High-Performance criteria:
High-Performance Mark and Trade Dressing
It comes with verified performance descriptor(s) for your product and a unique QR code that points to the product page in our High-Performance Mark Directory (Link to Directory) under Intertek.com, showcasing the performance attributes of your product with descriptions.
High-Performance Mark Certificate
It contains information on your company name, product performance claims and the date of certificate.
Application of High-Performance Mark
The High-Performance Mark provides “proof of performance” for you to easily communicate with your customers the verified functional properties of products with a trace-and-track QR code linking to identifiable marks and certificates on our High-Performance Mark Directory. You can apply the Mark on product tags, website, mobile app, videos, brochures, look books, etc., for winning customers’ confidence and trust through third-party verification from Intertek – the world’s leading Total Quality Assurance solutions provider.

Descriptors are graphical icons which describe the high-performance features of consumer products, to be used next to the Intertek High-Performance Mark in a trade dressing.

Absorbency fabric absorbs moisture e ectively so that the wearer feels comfortable.
Anti-Bacterial fabric inhibits the growth of bacteria for odor control and other microbiological properties.
Anti-Down Leakage clothing prevents down/ feathers/ fibres from penetrating the fabric or the seamed linings for maximum quality and appearance.
Anti-Fungal fabric prevents fungus from growing and avoids fungal infections which could harm human health.
Anti-Radiation fabric shields against RFID and electromagnetic field radiation, providing protection to the wearer.

Washable. After repeated washing, the footwear can still maintain its original color, size and other appearance characteristics.
Waterproof. Water will not penetrate the footwear, allowing the wearer to enjoy dry and comfortable feet.

Information provided in our HP Mark, Certificate and Testing Reports are proprietary to Intertek, and Intertek reserves the right to make any changes to the information at any time without notice or to withdraw the HP Mark and related information given for products in case the HP Mark becomes invalid.
