The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has proposed a draft Control Scheme for child use and care articles. It applies to child use and care articles intended to use for infants and children, which are imported, made, manufactured or distributed within the UAE. If approved as proposed, these products shall comply with the mandatory standards listed in the following table.

Suppliers shall meet the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or any schemes for food safety and quality management accepted in the UAE. Pictures and words used on product packaging shall not be contrary to the general rules and public morals as well as the Islamic values prevailing in the UAE.

Supplier shall also obtain the certificate of conformity by doing as follows:

  • Products manufactured, packed or imported shall be subject to the Form/Model (B) which sets out its requirements in the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS).
  • Supplier shall provide all the technical documents, certificates and information that can demonstrate the conformity of the product with the requirements under this control scheme.
