Risk Monitor on Brassieres

The Jiangsu Bureau of Quality and Technical supervision launched a risk monitor for brassieres at manufactures, in the market and e-commerce platforms. The risk monitor sampled 247 batches of products; 125 batches were found to have concerns.

In the current standardization system of China market, some brassiere standards already have requirements on air permeability and threading-out of steel rings after 5 washes. However, there is no requirement on pilling resistance after 5 washes of cup shell and cup lining, or the stretch and recovery property after 5 washes of shoulder strap. In addition, there is no requirement for harmful chemicals, such as TDI and APEO, which might be safety risks to humans.

Therefore, the risk monitor referred to relevant national standards, version 2015 of OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and some other international standards.

Primary risky items: stretch and recovery property after 5 washes of shoulder strap, air permeability, APEO, TDI
