U.S. – Direct Final Rule Published by the CPSC for Infant Swings

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a direct final rule on October 28, 2021, in the Federal Register that amends 16 CFR Part 1223, Safety Standard for Infant Swings.

Currently, 16 CFR Part 1223, makes ASTM F2088-20, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant and Cradle Swings, a mandatory requirement. The direct final rule will replace the reference to ASTM F2088-20 with ASTM F2088-21, the most current version of the standard. Changes between the previous version of the standard and ASTM F2088-21 include warning language for battery-operated products and editorial warning language changes.

This rule will become effective on January 29, 2022, given that the commission did not receive significant adverse comments by the November 29, 2021, deadline.
