The Functional Safety Standard ISO 26262 outlines all the necessary safety activities, measures, and process steps required to achieve Functional Safety in automotive systems.

What is the Functional Safety Standard ISO 26262 about?

  • Describes all safety activities, measures and process steps to achieve Functional Safety
  • The ISO 26262 defines all safety activities to be done and reported in documents
  • Helps you to choose the measures and methods from all the tables of the ISO 26262
  • Helps you to prevent systematic failures of the system, sub-system and/or element
  • Refers to supporting processes, methods, tools and safety analyses

The Standard helps you to organize safety activities as required by ISO 26262.

Functional Safety is one of the most important topics in the development of electronics and applies to all road vehicles such as cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles. The industry-specific requirements for electrical and/or electronic items, systems, elements and components in road vehicles are explained in these four training modules. Intertek's training modules are based on the practical application of this standard for assessment, certification and in your daily business to avoid increasing costs and risks due to systematic errors and unacceptable random hardware faults during development.
Due to our many years of practical experience in the field of automotive Functional Safety, we provide you with the necessary expert knowledge for the current ISO 26262.

The training defines the key activities to comply with this standard. You gain insight into the key aspects and activities of understanding approaches to developing a safety case. This training of ISO 26262 for you in your role as OEM, Tier 1, Tier 2, software vendor, hardware supplier, tool vendor etc. This different view and responsibility of each role is part of this training.  All modules (graphic TRAINING see next page) are highly recommended in terms of avoiding product liability and unnecessary costs for each involved role. You will learn how to provide evidence that you have carried out all required safety activities at the right time to be compliant with this standard.

Course Description

The ISO 26262 Functional Safety Module 3 course "Hardware development, FMEDA, integration, verification, testing" is a full-day training course that covers the requirements of parts 5, 8, 9 and partially 11 of the standards.
The requirements for safety-relevant hardware are presented and supplemented by an explanation of the FMEDA analysis. You will learn about the necessary individual process steps and activities that are important for hardware development and calculation of random hardware faults.
Module 3 is aimed at those responsible for the development of hardware and software development projects as well as all users of ISO 26262. After completing this course, you will be familiar with the most important relationships between system development, hardware development and software development from the perspective of the supplier responsible for hardware development and production of the hardware.

Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide understanding required Functional Safety processes, methodologies and safety activities including specification, testing, verification, and validation ensuring a robust and compliant approach to Functional Safety.

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for all personnel involved in the safety life cycle who want to deepen their expertise in management and development of safety related systems for vehicles. It is aimed at executives, managers, project leaders, hardware and software engineers, component suppliers, test specialists, software providers, tool providers and anyone involved in the Functional Safety electronic development in the automotive supplier chain.

Benefits

Our experienced Functional Safety expert trainers will help you effectively understand the essential measures to prevent accidents, recalls and product liability. It improves the ability of teams to design and implement safety-critical systems and ensures compliance with this valid automotive standard. Well-trained employees contribute to greater quality, operational efficiency and product safety. Investing in Functional Safety training also demonstrates a company's commitment to safety culture, thereby strengthening its reputation and competitiveness.

This training will provide you with the necessary knowledge and practical examples according to the ISO 26262 standards.
